So. Three things that are making me happy today. I'm going to aim for three every day. It's a good number, I think.

1. My dogs. And the way they follow me from room to room as I'm doing housework. I do realise that if anyone ever constructs a machine enabling us to hear canine thoughts what I'll hear is: "Don't let her escape, she can reach the shelf with the dog biscuits on it." But until that day I chose to believe they just like being close to me.

2. Tiny penguins. Wearing jumpers. For great justice.

3. Shopping for icons. I got a paid dreamwidth account recently which comes with 100 icon slots. Now, usually I only bother having one icon of whichever female character I'm crushing on that month, which is pretty much appropriate in all contexts so I never really saw the point of having more. But then I realised that now I can have icons of all of the women and I'm scrolling through icon communities looking at pretty things.

Penguins! Omg, my day just got better. *hugs penguins*

I found out I don't actually know how to fill up 100 slots for icons. I got to about 40 with great effort and then just stood there looking around, because I have the bases mostly covered. Is this what icon ennui feels like?

What? No. Impossible!

...But you're right. I have about 5 or 6 icons with Angel in and about 4 with Katie and- and- *sigh* I just won't have enough chances to use them. And if they languish unused, that will just make me sad. WOES.

I console myself with the hope that I'll acquire some more crushes before my paid time runs out.

I suspect dogs think of us with a bit more respect and affection. Cats, on the other hand... Food-dispensers, door-openers, and occasional cat beds.

My DW icon slots are nearly filled and I wish they allowed you to buy more slots like LJ does -- I have so many more LJ slots than DW that I have to cull the DW ones when I want to add more and tend to lose track of which icons are on LJ only.

Also, the time-before-last I reupped my paid LJ and extra userpics, I screwed up the renewal and only got one set of extra slots, so I had to cull my LJ userpics to get down below my new cap. And then a week or two back was renewal time again and suddenly I had dozens of empty slots. It's been fun -- there was a new [livejournal.com profile] iconomicon entry made last week that I grabbed five icons from, and then yesterday someone linked to [livejournal.com profile] redscharlach's icons tag and I went digging through her mini icons and stuck about eight on my LJ (three of those on my DW). It's fun to go on a spree.

I have a folder on my thumb drive that's specifically for saving icons I run across that are being offered up for sharing and caught my eye at the time. (I make sure to save the icon creator's name as part of the file name, and generally stick the LJ post in question into my memories as well.) So when I'm in the mood to delete some old ones and swap new ones in, I can go browsing for things I ran across a month ago that I liked at the time.
