So. At half past one on Monday my Grandmother had a catastrophic stroke. By two she had passed. I was there holding her hand. And on the one hand I get that it could have been. so. very. much. worse.

On the other hand: FUCK!

For anyone who doesn't know, until this summer I'd been my Gran's full time carer for about three years, and I knew this was coming, there were times when I prayed for it to come. At the same time, I adored this woman, a huge portion of my adult life has been devoted to caring for her, and, well, FUCK!

Anyway, I'm pretty drunk right now and intend to remain so for some time, so instead of swearing more I shall leave you with some advice my Gran gave me about sensible footwear:

If flat shoes hadn't been the fashion during the blackout you wouldn't be here. Your Grandfather was a short man.
