Doctor Who

I felt like a bad Whovian this week, when Tequila Boy asked me if I was looking forward to Saturday and I genuinely went, eh, what, what ridiculousness did I let you talk me into and then completely forget about?!
But, no, he was talking about Doctor Who and because I was a bad fan and didn't know the new series was starting I now don't get to spend the rest of the evening looking at pictures of Jenna Louise Coleman on tumblr like I really want to.
Well, I really rather enjoyed that, possibly because I'm not as sick to the back teeth of Daleks as the rest of fandom, and possibly because I thought a programming glitch leading to the Daleks all forgetting the Doctor was rather charming and less ridiculously overwrought than the whole faking your own death thing.
But, wait, what? Did they just kill the New Girl? Is she going to come back as a pre-daleked Oswin, is the Doctor going to save her, or as a completely different character? Are we experiencing such a dire shortage of attractive young actresses that Moffat can't find a different one for each part? Whatever the answer I am now roughly a bajillionty times more excited about the new companion than I was before, because that is one ridiculously adorable girl, and I am charmed.
At least a little of this may be because my epic Ponds boredom continues to scale new heights. I'm sorry, but you don't get to completely gloss over the emotional consequences of the Melody kidnapping plot and then add in some cheap but I can never give you children angst. Just no.
I'm also slightly confused as to why they're splitting the series in two, again? I'd though the reason for doing it last year was to move the entire run to the autumn? But, oh well, maybe this year as it's all standalone episodes it won't bork it quite so badly.
So, yes, I am still deeply suspicious after S6, but that was a good start to restoring my faith, and mostly NEW GIRL IS ADORKABLE.
