Stepladders and Podifc

The Next Week on Merlin trailer fooled me into thinking they were actually going to do an episode focusing on Gwen & Morgana (I know, there's a fine line between optimism and stupidity and I missed it) as a result I accidentally tuned in for part of The Medieval Manpain Hour. Luckily, after about twenty minutes I fell off a stepladder and that was the end of that.

Why was I up a stepladder? I was taping tinsel to the ceiling. See, I want the house to look festive, but I would like to avoid the now annual "Oh God, the dog's eaten the fairy lights" trip to the animal hospital.

Note: I did not hurt myself falling, and the tinsel was retrieved before the dog ate too much of it so all is well.

Elsewhere it has been a good week in fandom for me. Two of my fics got recorded for podtor_who a Doctor Who podfic extravaganza.

letsgofriday recorded The Boy Who Killed Time The Tenth Doctor and assorted companions, written back when I thought creepy and despondent was a good stylistic choice.

such_heights recorded This is (Probably) Perfectly Normal A very silly fic I wrote in which the Doctor regenerates into a woman who looks like Angel Coulby.

Both are excellent and fill me with much glee.

medieval manpain hour indeed. lol. i feel oddly free since i haven't been watching it anymore. i'm like no morgause, no way i'm watching it. and it feels good.

YES. I can watch it, but I can't be emotionally or intellectually engaged or fannishly invested (at least on any level beyond the ridiculous boys, what boys? AUs) because I can't get involved in the huge number of murders I'd have to commit to get the rage out of my system.

it still wouldn't be as many murders as merlin has committed, our "hero". just saying. angry? who's angry? not me. nooo.

In my more well-diposed moments I think Merlin would make a fascinating antagonist or supporting character, because then they could explore his more interesting morally grey characteristics, he's just a terrible, terrible choice for a hero.

The rest of the time I just go: Fuck off, you lying, manipulative, murdering creep!
