netgirl_y2kIt's troubling to be woken at 8am by a text message which reads: Need help. Bring vaseline and a vice.
It's even more troubling when the text comes from one's father.
Luckily, it transpired that he was requesting assistance fixing the back gate which had blown off in last week's inclement weather. I was promised a treat in return for my help. Treat turned out to be the opportunity to use a tool that was, and I quote, what they used to make holes in the days before electric drills. Oh, the excitement. I managed to negotiate up to a curry and a couple of pints.
And that's Bank Holidays with my dad.
