I was walking to work on Thursday when I narrowly avoided being hit by a car that blew through a red light at a pedestrian crossing at way over the speed limit, and promptly came off the road at the mini roundabout. Two men all dressed all in black with black face masks, and a woman in a brightly coloured cagoule and what looked like hideous lululemon leggings, got out and legged it through the shopping precinct, hotly pursued by two cop cars full of polis.

So that was weird, not least because it was half past ten in the morning.

Also, Alex Salmond just died - and nothing of value was lost. I am looking forward to all the stories about him that got buried coming to light now. You cannae defame the deid.

You know, if you're going to commit armed robbery - or similar, I presuming from the all in black with black face masks - mibbe gie your co-conspirator the heads up so they don't dress really distinctively...? (Then again, if someone came into a bank in a brightly coloured cagoule and hideous lululemon leggings it would be the fashion police rather than the actual polis I'd be considering calling...)

Very much looking forward to finding out which of the rumours were true and very much not looking forward to all the conspiracy theories that are about to abound.

Some poor bugger on Scottish Politics twitter posted a picture of Salmond from this morning noting that he looked really ill - and I sincerely hope that person is taking a lengthy social media break.

Thank you! Three days later, it's just a weird thing that happened, but at the time I was a little rattled.

Though it turns out that nearly being hit by a car and having to give a police statement is both a good reason to be late to work, and means people will volunteer to do your annoying or unpleasant jobs for you for the rest of the day.

So, funny thing, the woman in the ugly leggings was the first out of the car, so I think it must have been an accident and start going over to see if I can help, then the two guys in balaclavas jump out and I'm like nvm...
