I adore her, she is my always and forever favourite character. And the thing is I don't actually know why I love her so much; she's an incoherently written villain from a show I find almost offensively bad.
And yet, and yet, and yet...
* All the people I ship romantically with this character
No one, really. The show really pulled a number on making Morgana closely related to pretty much anyone she had chemistry with. I wrote a lot of Gwen/Morgana fic in the heyday of my involvement in Merlin fandom, but with hindsight I can see that they were always a pair-the-spares pairing, even if you were mostly interested in the spares. I do think that Morgana had a crush on Morgause that she probably had a lot of trouble processing, but I'm mostly interested in them in a fucked up genetic sexual attraction type way.
In fandom, I variously shipped Morgana with Vivian, Elena, Mithian and Annis, but that's mostly because I wanted Morgana to get the hell out of Camelot and find herself a nice queen or princess to be court sorceress to; I thought that would do her the world of good.
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
I always thought that the show missed a trick by not doing more, or really anything, with Arthur & Morgana after the reveal that they were brother and sister, the screwed up sibling dynamic would have been delicious; the golden king and the dark queen.
I was really interested in Morgana and Aithusa, too. By the last season Morgana's love for Aithusa was her sole redeeming feature, and as much as I loved Morgana getting someone that prioritised her over Arthur, Merlin, destiny et al., even if it was a poorly cgi'd dragon, I'd have loved to have known why Aithusa was so keen on Morgana.
* My unpopular opinion about this character
Well, I guess my belief that the show could only have been improved by her stabbing Merlin through the eye circa-S3 and allowing Arthur to take over as protagonist is pretty unpopular?
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
In general, I wish they'd let her hatred of Camelot continue to stem from fear for her own safety/the persecution of magicians, rather than give her a totally out of left-field desire for the throne.
In specific, I wish she'd come back at the beginning of S3 and immediately accused Merlin of poising her. What a brilliant way to have the magic reveal:
"Merlin poisoned me!"
"Morgana's a witch, and conspired with Morgause to curse Camelot!"
"How do you know?"
"Um..."
* Something about them I consider true, even though it's only my head canon/fanon
