Yeah, I've seen some comments from show-only viewers wondering who burned Winterfell, and if it was the Ironborn? Which, the castle was pretty damn burned for it to have been a dozen guys who looked like they were in kind of hurray.
It did feel like there should have been another scene between Theon's men turning on him and Bran and Rickon seeing the ruins of Wintfell. Maybe there was meant to be and it was sacrificed because of time and budget? It does seem a bit weird, I mean it'd be one thing to leave that question unanswered from one week to the next, but from one year to the next...
