Here, have some random thoughts on Being Human S4 so far.

-I know there was some behind the scenes stuff going on with actors wanting to leave and whatnot, but the first three episodes have felt like a mad scramble to get the new lineup in place.

-I wish they could have gotten the actress who played Nina back for, like, a day, just so we could have seen her and George walking through their door together.

-Tom! I'm glad Tom is back, I was greatly charmed by him last series and with him being an established character it seemed natural for him to move in to help Annie protect baby Eve.

-I do wish they'd changed up the gender makeup of the trio and given us another female werewolf or female vampire (especially with the Hal-Pearl-Leo trio being the same.)

-Hal... I want to give Hal a fair shake, I really do. Because especially in this last episode he got some really nice moments ("I won't live anywhere that doesn't have central heating, carpets, and Radio 4. That should be on my list." "Kill me. You can tell Annie I attacked you.") But, especially with him turning out to be an Old One, it seems like they can't think of anything else to do with their vampire hero than have him be a Big Name Vamp who's repented and is trying to hang onto his humanity with his fingernails while being tempted back to his bad old ways. And while I loved Mitchell's story and the way it ended, I don't really care to see it repeated, you know?

-Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about the arc of this series being about vampire lore/the old ones. I mean, the vampire stuff is by far the least interesting part of Being Human. I dunno, vampire stuff is generally hard to do well, because it's been so very done to death. Stealthily closes word document of utterly self-indulgent Vampire!Morgana modern AU.

-Speaking of what should be the most interesting part of Being Human, ANNIE! I freaking adore Annie, and will watch it as long as she's in it. Although, like a couple of other people have said, I'm not sure how long that will be. Because while Tom 'n' Hal are working as a sort of odd couple thing, Annie is the one who seems like a square peg in around hole. Although hopefully that's just her palpable grief over George, Nina and Mitchell and the kinks of the new lineup.

-But either way I hope Annie gets stuff to do other than being Eve's guardian, although her story of the three little wolves and the big bad pig was adorable. The lingering shot of the knife stuck in the banister gives me hope that this might be the year when we finally get to find out something about Annie's awesome ghost powers. Perhaps? Maybe?

-I'm not sure how I feel about the future!Eve storyline, mostly because I don't understand it yet, but also because I already felt like the show had overpowered their vampires before they made them powerful enough to take over the entire world.

-Basically, I'm enjoying it a fair bit, but unlike last series it's not inspiring me to do fannish backflips.
