Some Fics What I Have Written

Fic in a Box and Femslashex had reveals on the same day which meant I had six (6) fics reveal all at once. I mean, yikes.

It's funny, when I was signing up I didn't offer GoT/ASOIAF. I keep trying to be dome with that fandom, partly because I don't watch House of the Dragon and have zero interest in the mooted Jon Snow show, and partly because at a certain point I must have said everything I have to say about sad, dead, pseudo-medieval queens. Then I picked up a swap and two pinch-hits, partly because its still my writing comfort zone, and partly because I apparently do still have some things to say about sad, dead, pseudo-medieval queens.

The Queens of the Wasteland (Game of Thrones, Sansa Stark/Yara Greyjoy, 4k)

Yara was reminded of one of the truisms of this new world order: the Queen in the North is cleverer than you.

The thing about the GoT finale was that, yes, it was bad, but it was bad in that very specific way that made me want to write fic because, like, I have notes. And one of the fics I'd always meant to write was about Sansa, Yara, and their shared grief over Theon, so when I saw a request pop up for just that, I was like: GIMME.

If sunshine had a taste, Sansa thought, it would taste like Rhaenys Martell Targaryen.

This was written for someone I'd actually gamed not to be matched to during sign-ups - they give great prompts and are a brilliant commenter, but I've written for them a whole lot and I figured that they were probably sick to the back teeth of me - but they came up as an initial pinch hit and I just couldn't resist. Maybe I will finally be free of this fandom when I have written an AU where every single dead female character lives, maybe that's my way out.

Forever Hold Your Peace (A Song of Ice and Fire, Elia Martell/Lyanna Stark, 2k)

The realm had been invited to bear witness to the marriage of Princess Elia Martell to Lady Lyanna Stark. The realm’s reaction was primarily confusion in various shades of politeness.

This was a last minute pinch-hit I picked up, like, two days before reveals for somebody that didn't have any prompts or DNWs, which I think as an initial assignment would have been very stressful because I would have gotten too in my head about 'what do they really want, and what if I hit an unspoken DNW', but when you've only got a couple of hours to come up with an idea is immensely freeing, because you can go 'I'm going to write that fic where Elia and Lyanna get married and the rest of the realm has to suck it because no one has said I can't.'

Getting Away With It (that's the living) (Kevin Can Fuck Himself, Allison/Patty, 3k)

The weird thing, in the end, was how easy it was for Allison McRoberts (widow) to slip back into her old life.

I was totally delighted to get Kevin Can Fuck Himself for my Femslashex assignment, because I already knew I wated to write a post S2 fic. There's nothing better than getting a request that lines up with a fic that you have mostly written in your head and nothing about writing it hurts. And while I enjoyed the ambiguous note the show ended on, we can all agree that ultimately they bone, right?

Fireflies (Horizon Zero Dawn, Aloy/Alva, 3k)

Alva did not look as excited by the prospect of forbidden books as Aloy had expected.

I will die on the hill of Alva being the best new character in Forbidden West, and that she and Aloy should hold hands and kiss. So getting to write them was a delight, obviously.

The Robin (Horizon Zero Dawn, Aloy/Vala, 3k)

Vala chuckled. “You know, my brother used to tell me that daemons are stars that have fallen to earth.”

“I think-” Aloy stopped, because she wasn’t sure how much of her theory was based on only half understood things she’d read on her Focus, and how much it was just something that she wanted to believe. “I think that they’re memories, animals from the old world that still exist as part of us."

Insomuch as there is a femslash Horizon fandom Aloy/Vala is their pairing of choice, and it is very much not mine, but I wanted to write it for my recipient because I'd already written them one Aloy/Alva fic, and my in was that one of their likes was daemon AUs, which immediately fascinated me because how do you write a daemon AU in a world where none of the characters know what most animals look like? I had so much fun with the world building for this.
