...I would have failed utterly.
In my defence, the plague finally caught me. I'm fine, but if that was the milder strain after three jags then goddamn am I glad I missed the OG version. I'm lucky, for me it did fall somewhere in a grey area between Worst Cold Ever and Eh, Shitty Flu. But the worst part for me wasn't the week+ that I was properly sick, it's that that was five weeks ago and I'm still not over it. Like, I'm 90% fine, but I'll still get random muscle pains, or have uncontrollable two minute long coughing fits, or out of nowhere suddenly be bone tired in a way that's totally disproportionate to what I've done. I am just So Ready for it to be over.
The weird thing is that when I was really sick (Christmas week into New Year) I was taking daily lateral flow tests, all of which came back negative, and if work wasn't still having us do PCR tests I never would have known and just written it off as a random weird bug, so make of that what you will. Actually, now that I write it down, what you probably should make of that is that I've been doing the LFTs wrong this whole time.
But in encouraging news I spent that whole holiday week with my sister and parents (damn you, incorrectly administered Lateral Flow Tests!) and they didn't have a symptom between them and all tested negative. Hurrah!
