(no subject)
Sep. 10th, 2011 12:10 amI feel at that I should point out that it's a friday night, and lots of people stay up late on friday nights, and also, that I'm a terrible insomniac and am not infrequently up at all manner of strange hours anyway. So the fact that I'm awake does not necessarily mean that I've decided to stay up till half three in the morning to watch Scotland play rugby. Probably quite badly. Against Romania.
Good, I'm glad we've got all that sorted out.
The rugby world cup started today and I watched the opening game in my penguin jammies, with birds-nest hair, while eating a bowl of rice crispies. Which, I've got to tell you, is a really good look for me.
I hope New Zealand win. I think that would be nice for them. But I suspect by the end of the group stage I'll be on Team Anyone But England, as per usual. I thought about trying to be gracious about this, but decided against it.

While I'mwaiting for the game to start up anyway, I'm really excited to see the stuff that comes out of
womenlovefest which I'm not doing (even though I freaking adore the intent behind it) mostly out of excessive, excessive laziness, but also because it occurs to me that I don't actually know which female characters are hated in broader fandom. I mean, just by osmosis I know about the ones like Gwen Cooper and Sansa Stark where the hate was just so overblown and out of proportion with anything the character could possibly have done, but because I never really see any of it in the places I hang out I start to think that it doesn't really happen as much as it used to, then I follow a character tag on tumblr or something and... whew boy.

Basically, I am pleased that some people will be declaring the love for Sansa Stark, who is the character I'm most ridiculously defensive of at the moment. Oh, my poor perfect girl. I hope you get to be queen.
Actually, while we're sort of on the subject, this is my rule about character hate (which I try to live by, but don't always): Those characters that I love so much that it makes my soul hurt when people hate them (Donna, Morgana, Sansa) there are other people, possibly ones that I like quite a lot, who feel that way about the characters I wish would die in a fire (names redacted) so I should probably keep those feelings to myself.

Scotland 34 - 24 Romania. Damn, but that was close. Right, bedtime!
