this is a very interesting post. i don't have that much more to add, but it's interesting to hear about the differences between prompt fic and fic you wrote for yourself. and interesting about writing in sections too - i guess that it's kind of like chapters, but short, and chapters are a thing that everyone accepts as normal. i'm reading david nicholl's 'us' at the moment, which has very very short chapters. it's quite nice to be able to just finish a few on the bus, but i sort of wish that (becuase it's quite a long book) they could be longer. but then - fic is also not exactly like books...
