The entire Zygon plot just sort of... petered out, as well.
Yeah, I think the Doctor being the last Time Lord was a super interesting thing to do when they were rebooting the show, but they've basically done everything that can be done with it, and it was hobbling the show somewhat because as the Doctor himself said, how can you ever move on from that?
