Okay, I'm pretty sure I only said the last bit inside my head, or at least said it very quietly.

So, internet, is there such a thing as Snow White/Evil Queen femslash? Come on, the entire film is about Ravenna's quest to possess Snow White's heart.

Oh, thank you. Yes, this is the sound of me getting obsessed with the wrong summer blockbuster. Because I liked Avengers fine, but it did nothing for me fannishly.

Sometimes I suspect that I really don't know how to do fandom...

Avengers was low on female character -- a Marvel problem, not a you-problem.

Yeah, I mean I enjoyed it and I'm sure I'll see the Black Widow film if and when it comes out, but the overwhelming boy-ness of it combined with the fact that I hadn't seen or read any of the previous canon and wasn't attached to the characters mean I'm sort of standing on the sidelines of fandom going "...Well, it's nice you're all having fun."

Yeah, that was really a movie that assumes you've done your homework and seen the prequels. Doesn't do a lot of work to make you love the characters (aside from the Hulk, who sucked in the previous pair of movies Marvel did using the character, and turned out to be good in Joss Whedon's hands).

We can get really annoyed at the guy running Marvel, though, who seems disinclined to make any movies centered around a heroine because he's bought into the crap about women not being able to support an action movie as the main character. He doesn't believe Marvel has any superheroines worth their own movies -- which, yeah, after Iron Man 2 and Avengers, Black Widow for sure, but there are some other good ones and many of them wound up in the Avengers team at various points in the comics, so. He's a whole bag of dicks.

Basically, yes. I may have squeaked a little over how sensible Snow White's armour was. It's the sort of armour I'd want if I were leading a pseudo-mediaeval siege force.
