Continued Adventures on Completely Normal Island

Following the UK Supreme Court's appalling decision the other week I've seen it suggested a couple of places that cis people should try to show our support more overtly visually, wearing trans pride badges and the like, which is one of those things that doesn't feel like it's enough, but also can't fucking hurt, right.

It did make me think of this one time last year when I ran into a distant acquaintance on the bus, and we were making awkward small talk until someone's stop when they noticed the trans pride badge I had pinned to my beanie and sort of went "Oh...I didn't know you were..."

And I panicked and and went, "Oh! I'm just a fan of their work!" and got off the bus.

I'm suave in real life.

I've seen the suggestion of stickering public loos with "a trans person peed here and nothing bad happened" or similar, which would probably lead to fewer fumbled conversations for those of us who're too shy, or tired, or whatever, to talk coherently.

I'd prefer the plain flag as it seems more generally supportive, but it's not my decision to make. /is there a flailing emoticon?

Oh no...! But also I kinda love it. Very relatable.

I have suggested to our local representatives that any time an anti-trans bill pops up in the legislature (which is far too often), someone needs to stand up and publicly demand that whoever is sponsoring the bill explain exactly how they intend to enforce it, e.g. "Do you intend to have someone stand outside every single restroom in the state and demand to look into everyone's underwear before they use it?"
