Didn't See That One Coming...

Two episodes into both I am enjoying the new Lord of the Rings show more than the new Game of Thrones one, which I very much Did Not Expect.

Like, I'm not sure there's a vast gulf in quality between the two, so it's just going to be down to personal taste, and at least for me the big difference was that I had fun watching The Rings of Power, while The House of the Dragon has thus far felt like a pretty miserable slog.

I take the oft made point that many of the elf dudes in Rings of Power have supremely punchable faces, but counterpoint: at least none of them are *Matt Smith.

*I'm sure Matt Smith is a perfectly lovely chap, and I am aware that my antipathy towards him is wholly irrational, but hoo boy.

Weirdly relatable! So many people seem to find him charming as Daemon, but he comes across as... well, exactly what his character is: an incestuous, psychopathic nonce. I'm interested in seeing how the story responds to him, but people seem to genuinely be cheering for him to come out on top, and to that, I can only say: huh?!

Maybe it's because I'm not interested in men, so whatever possible charm he has is lost on me. I dunno.
