Didn't See That One Coming...
Two episodes into both I am enjoying the new Lord of the Rings show more than the new Game of Thrones one, which I very much Did Not Expect.
Like, I'm not sure there's a vast gulf in quality between the two, so it's just going to be down to personal taste, and at least for me the big difference was that I had fun watching The Rings of Power, while The House of the Dragon has thus far felt like a pretty miserable slog.
I take the oft made point that many of the elf dudes in Rings of Power have supremely punchable faces, but counterpoint: at least none of them are *Matt Smith.
*I'm sure Matt Smith is a perfectly lovely chap, and I am aware that my antipathy towards him is wholly irrational, but hoo boy.

Maybe it's because I'm not interested in men, so whatever possible charm he has is lost on me. I dunno.

tbh, I fell off the show after those first two episodes. It felt like he was trying to be both a show about the horrors of the patriarchy (hard to do in a prequel when we already know it doesn't get better) and the Daemon Targaryen hour, and it just wasn't jelling for me.
