The God Complex

-I know I'm repeating myself here, and I've said this three weeks in a row now, but: Your infant daughter has been kidnapped and is being raised to be a psycopath by religious fanatics, why are you on holiday? It's just, for me, this second half of the series has been made up of near perfect episodes overshadowed by how... flippantly the Melody-is-River arc is being, well, mostly ignored. I could get behind them having all these other adventures if it was in the context of looking for Melody and getting sidetracked, but as it is it looks like they're on a gap-year.

-That aside, this was a genuinely good episode. Very Creepy. Very Room 101.

-Rita! She was brilliant! I wish we could have kept her! So did the Doctor! Actually, I really liked that even though the Doctor's increasingly aware that he breaks companions, he's already half shopping for the next one.

-I loved that the Doctor's room number was 11. Theories as to what was in there? Mine is that it was the Doctor himself, that's why he said "Who else would it be" and backed off so quickly.

-Rory! Another good episode for him, talking about travelling in the TARDIS in the past tense, and saying that every time he sees someone befriending the Doctor he wants to contact their next of kin. Yeah, that one's already half out the door.

-The Doctor Curse-of-Fenriced Amy. I loved him saying that he took Amy along because he was vain, he wanted to be adored. Eleven, most self aware Doctor or most self aware Doctor? Although, when he was talking about how he stole Amy's childhood and ruined her life, wouldn't that maybe have been a good moment to mention, you know, the bit where you made the universe hate you so much that they stole Amy's daughter just to destroy you?

-I'm sorry, I just can't get past this.

-I am sure Amy and Rory will be back for the finale, and I'm sure I saw somewhere that they'll be in at least a bit of S7, but even if that's not true I am pretty relaxed about them leaving. I came to enjoy The Ponds more than I ever thought I would, but I would love to see Eleven travelling with new people, having a different dynamic.

-Plus, that was probably the coolest and most mature companion departure of New Who, I approve.

-Next week is an all-boy episode, and one of those boys is James Corden, who I hate beyond what is rational or normal. See you in a fortnight, Doctor Who!
