Fic: Pirates and Revolutionaries
Title: Pirates and Revolutionaries
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: Ace, Mel
Rating: G
Word Count: 255
Summary: “I'm sure there are a few planets that need liberated with piracy.”
After Ace's attempt to blow the door off their cell failed, their captors chained them to the wall by their wrists.
“The fuse must have been wet,” Ace said, not at all apologetically.
“Sure,” said Mel, jangling hopefully at her shackles.
“I didn't see you managing to pick the lock with your amazing computer skills.”
“Ace, it was a wooden door.”
There was silence except from the rattling of chains until Mel said, “It's not just my fault we're in this mess. You and the Doctor were trying to overthrow the royal family.”
“Yeah, and we were going to get away with it until the guards found the king's crown in your pocket.” Mel didn't really feel she could argue with that. “Although,” continued Ace momentarily, “that was pretty wicked. I didn't even see you taking it off his head!”
“Well,” said Mel modestly, “It did help that you were causing that diversion by threatening to bring down the monarchy with a can of nitro-nine.”
“How long do you think it'll be before Glitz breaks you out?”
“Glitz will be half way across the galaxy by now,” Mel sounded philosophical about the whole thing. “And he'll have the rest of the crown jewels with him.”
“You can come with me and the Professor when he finally shows up.”
“Thanks, Ace, but I've changed a lot since I left the Doctor and--”
“Oh,” Ace interrupted, “I'm sure the Doctor knows of a few planets that need liberated with piracy.”
“In that case, I'd love to.”
