Yeah, the Kushiel books were basically pushed at me by friends who know my feelings about Morgana and Regina going "...Yes, but you don't understand, Melisande..." And they were right.

I have read the werewolf duology, and the weird thing is if that if I hadn't read them recently enough that the name Jacqueline Carey was still stuck in my head I never would have pegged them as being by the same author as the Kushiel books. Which I suppose says a fair bit about Ms Carey's abilities as a writer.

I really like the Parasol Protectorate books, but I'm also the first to admit that the series takes till the second or third book to really find its feet. Judging by Etiquette and Espionage the Finishing School series has really hot the ground running, great great fun.
